Here are some shots of prototypes, works-in-progress,
and GemGrips that have found a permanent home.

natural North American nephrite jade
Jade was the first natural stone I successfully made grips from.

natural N. American
nephrite jade

This is the third set of jade grips I've made.  The color is a beautiful, deep apple-green.   They were a gift to my brother for letting me use his gun to fit & test grips.  Thanks, bro!

stabilized malachite
This is the first set of grips I made from stabilized stone AND the first set of grips I ever sold.  A very special set for a very good friend, they live on my dentist's S&W.

stabilized malachite
Malachite grips look beautiful on both blued & stainless guns.

stabilized "apache gold"
Apache gold is a somewhat rare mineral from the southwestern U.S. With gold-colored veins running through a jet-black matrix,
this looks stunning on a blued gun.

stabilized sugilite
One for the ladies!  The gorgeous raspberry red-purple with black veins looks great on blued or stainless guns.

natural fossilized "gem" dinosaur bone
This material was collected in the 1970's in the western U.S. by a Lapidary Journal contributing author.  The red color is caused by iron from the blood of the dinosaur.

I made this AMAZING set of grips and matching pendant for my good friend, Scott Taylor, owner of Taylor's Trading Post in Biglerville, PA, and his wife.  I have known Scott since I was a little kid.  He hasn't decided what gun
to put 'em on yet...

stabilized turquoise
Ruger SP-101 grip inserts
These were a custom order and I am happy to report that they are a complete success!   I know they are going to a very good home.
Thanks Dave!

stabilized turquoise Ruger SP-101 grip inserts
These came out very nice for the first set I've ever done!  They mount to the gun completely differently than 1911 grips so it was a learning process.  Note the 'blind' bushing on the right grip.

natural North American jasper
A request from a good friend!  Beautiful natural red and yellow jasper.  The colors just pop on a polished stainless gun!  Deep, warm reds, oranges and yellows swirl through a semi-translucent background.

natural North American jasper
This material came from my grandmas collection.  The right grip has a small crystal-filled cavity and the left grip has inclusions of native silver!

natural North American jasper
This material is absolutely gorgeous! Pictures just don't do it justice...

natural Picasso marble
work-in-progress
I love the look of this stone, kind of like tree-bark camo. I am not sure if this material is tough enough to pass the durability test but there's only one way to find out... Stay tuned!

natural Brazilian agate
work-in-progress
This material has distinct light gray and translucent banding with some darker, reddish-brown areas of banding at the outer edges.  It should make a very beautiful set of grips.

work-in-progress

This material has soft blue,
white and yellow bands.
It will look amazing on a blued gun.
